Feeling hectic and full of worries is a waste of time and energy. Your choices, that's all you have really in your hands- what you choose to do moving forward in every little moment. I found myself over thinking about silly stuff, stuff that I have no business worrying about. This life is about finding little pleasures, doing no harm, and helping when you can. Hope you get that. Here's a few simple pleasures I had since I quit thinking too much.

biker chicks
I couldn't resist the title. We had an awesome long weekend with Supergirl. Lots of fun side trips to Branson. Night Water at White Water was amazing, we had the best of luck with a thunderstorm cooling off the 100 degrees streak and leaving us with an outright cold snap of 78 degrees! We saw the last days at Silver Dollar City Kids Fest with the phenomenal Wallendas. We even fit in a date while Supergirl went to a friend's birthday pool party. All that said, I have to say the best moments where at home. Growing up in the country and living with just the basics, we had a blast. Almost everyone of my best childhood memories involve doing free stuff at home. So I leave this weekend memory with photos of us biker chicks and our visit with the neighbor's friendly horses. What do you remember doing as a kid that was the best?

Yumm, fun and friends
Spring Creek Tea Room in Ozark Mo=Old building+Ecclectic Dining+Antique Flea Market.

Best place to go with a girlfriend, sister, mom, maybe an adventurous male too. My friend and I had a lovely time perusing the antiques and flea market fun while waiting for our table. What a concept! I thought it was genius. I found a few really WANT to haves and took photos instead. Best part was simply getting away with an old friend and having a lovely time. Make time for friends!!!

Rain, warp and weft
It's been quiet here, we've been hiding from the heat outside and entertaining ourselves with hobbies, games, movies and such. I haven't been making ANY jewelry lately so it was a pleasant surprise when Supergirl brought with her a jewelry beading kit complete with a guitar shaped loom. I have never weaved or woven or whatever you say but now I can say I have and that I know how to warp and weft too. Lots of W's in weaving... We made a couple of bracelets and a ring. I can't say that I am going to run out and buy a little loom or make one or anything. I have WAY too many half started projects sitting around the house and in the studio. Do you do this too? Get all excited about a new THING and go out and get the books on it, then the tools and materials and get into it for about 30 days and then it loses its SHINY newness to you? What is that? I feel it is a flaw sometimes but then other times I feel it is a DIVINE right, no-even an obligation to get out and try NEW things. I think we're on a search for hidden talents, a calling to greatness, or just a whimsical nature perhaps. I say keep looking, keep reading, keep trying new skills. But I doubt weaving is in my future. What will you try NEXT?
Here's some random photos of our weekend. Hope you have a fun week!
| This is the Superteam's fun. |
| This is my fun. I have a pet Sourdough starter. |

No Sparks 4th of July!
It's too dry for fireworks, we opted to forego what I sometimes cynically call the traditional Chinese "burn your money" party and had a fish fry at home instead...in the cool Air Conditioning. Ahhh. So I took pictures of food instead...but fair warning I am not a vegetarian and this was a fried food fest :) Happy Fourth of July! Be safe, be happy!

HOT Summer COLD
We've been suffering for rain and hovering around 100 daily for what feels like a month.
Folks are worried and crops and animals here in the country are taking it day by day. Me too, day by day has always been my best strategy. I try to find something good in everything but sometimes it is hard, I must admit. I haven't been bloggy lately either. I figure anyone attempting to share online has their ups and downs. When I write here I picture talking to an old friend that I haven't known for years and don't know well enough to name names but nevertheless we like to talk about life in general, even if it is a little one directional :). Ahh, my first smiley face on here too. Uh-oh, I must be getting comfortable talking to long lost stranger friends....
So lately we've been trying to beat the heat, last weekend we did a mad dash to Silver Dollar City just so I could see the miniature horses that were there for two days.
Can you blame me? Check these beauties out! Three feet tall and sweet as can be. The little foal was just a few weeks old and maybe reached my knees. The black splotched one has light blue eyes, I wish I got that picture. Very cool.
Then we spent the afternoon in the sun and water. Supergirl is looking especially cute here during a forced shade break. She's a trooper when it comes to earplugs and sunblock, I don't think those things even existed when I was a kid. I spent the summers nut brown and dirty and having a blast outside.

Over the next few days I developed a pretty strong summer cold complete with fever, aches and a powerful headache. This was hard for me to accept because I have had less than a cold a year for a long time, dare I say I think my immune system is superstrong! Not this time. I took it as a cue to sleep a lot and take it EASY. Overall the experience hasn't been too bad, it did make me aware of how healthy I usually am--see I found something good in it.
We refilled the hummingbird feeders since they appeared to be drunk from fermented sugar water. They are interesting little birds. One of them buzzed SuperDude for filling the feeder with fresh go juice. They seem to be sharing better this year. I have seen all four perches filled at the same time. I would guess there's 5-10 regulars at our house.
The clouds have been building up today and we can see rain coming down some distance away. The forecast changes daily here but I believe I heard there's a chance of rain tomorrow. I combined almost all our hoses together to water the bushes by the road tonight. That might help the chance of rain, kind of like when you wash your car. Have a good week! Find the good in the smallest things and more will come.

Speaking of birds, the chickens are panting to stay cool. This is T.K. our rooster. If you are wondering, T.K. stands for Toby Keith and I named him. He's not the most aggressive rooster I ever met but he sure does crow a lot.
