summer solstice

I watch the length of daylight all year long and my favorites are summer solstice, the longest day and the day after winter solstice-because the days are starting to get longer. Don't know why, just do it and have done it for a long time. I like sunsets the most I guess that might be why. The seasons are so distinct here in the Ozarks and now Summer is officially here!

I named this necklace Summer Solstice, not just because I made it last night, but because it reminds me of water and the lake and going to the lake on the longest day of the year to watch the sun set on the water.
The materials are the stones Amazonite, Labradorite, and Hematite and sterling silver. The Labradorite will shimmer in silvers and blues and sometimes golds, just like that lake did.
Hope you like it!

Tonight I walked around enjoying the gloaming light and a soft breeze, with camera in hand. It has been dry but there are some pretty flowers to see, this is a butterfly bush with a bee.

I don't know the name of this lilly but it surely must be Sunset!

I didn't plant anything in this spot but black eyed Susan's have found a home.

This is Superdude's cacti garden, he is expanding this year!

Walking the field in the sunset is a favorite thing around here.

Happy Summer to you!

where did we go?

Work pictures would be computer screens and keyboards, bland offices and friendly earnest people.

So instead I want to share the fun photos, the pretties, and the awes. Guess where we where....don't peek at the last couple of shots!

THE DRIVE:

Do you know this town? We drove on by.
 The Destination:

The hotel was next to a pretty river with ducks.

She has little ones under there.
 The Fun:
one drive after work....

This place is called Chimneys....

This was right after work one day.

This is a lovely park to visit.

Guess you might know this one.

Last day we had a half day to play!

We visited an old settlement

He was so sweet and HUGE, a draft horse!
I want one of these for a fountain.

I loved this place. It also made me happy to live in this century!

Okay here is the biggest clue...yeah I am giving it away...

The Smoky Mountains of Tennessee!

It was a lovely trip and we had a good time even if my brain grew a new lobe in training! I hope to go there again, on a vacation in a cabin maybe and have days to hike in those mountains. They are so beautiful. Have a great week!

on the road

I love driving and traveling by car, road trips are a luxury these days so when I got the chance to drive to a work event, I took it and hit the road! Superdude is off duty and recovering from a manly combat training injury so we're happy copilots in a comfy economical rental car.

We also enjoyed an evening at a nearby All American Drive In Movie this weekend. Full of interesting sights, sounds, smells, and junk food.

There was a Jeep rally at the Drive In!

Security :)

Doesn't this just scream summer!

Here's some of my new painting project.
Have a great week, more photos of our travel to come.
