Memorial Weekend and rain dances

For many Americans Memorial Weekend is a time to honor our fallen soldiers, for remembering our ancestors and our passed loved ones by decorating the cemeteries with bright colors, love and tears. The rest of the weekend is spent enjoying the first holiday of the summer with family, friends, fun in the sun, cook outs, and of course water!

With everyone home, we spent the weekend playing in the pool and relaxing at home.

Water is one of the most amazing things on this planet. I know that there are places where water is so scarce that every drop is important. Here we are blessed with normally abundant water but lately it has been dry and I find myself conscious of all the water around me and how much we depend on it.

We have to water our vegetable gardens almost daily. Several trees are dropping leaves.

We don't water the grass.

I haven't set up our fountain.

Our new pond is a puddle so far.

I have faith that rain is coming and for now will just be thankful for the water we do have...

We went to town for tomatoes and errands and a garage sale for a new to us elliptical, yay! and down the road we got a clean truck for a good cause (notice all the water shots I took).

Picking up movies on our way back home, I couldn't decide it this was a foreshadowing of a weird weather summer or just a good photo to take as a joke.

I hope you had a wonderful Memorial Weekend!

country views with an idea and kayaks

Living in the country has a view of life that I cherish. It is a slow down approach to everything. Watch the breeze in the trees and listen to the sounds around you. I took a walk in my country neighborhood, with good folks, lovely creatures and great country views.

This is my handsome neighbor.

He's very friendly.

Another neighbor and her sweet baby. She has a milkstache!

The outside is giving me an idea and I have started painting some.
Notice my assistant? She is not very helpful.

I got to go along for a kayak shopping adventure to Bass Pro.

He approved of our choice!

Have a great week. I will be posting some new jewelry on my shop. Here's a sneek peek!

If you want to see more, I have pictures on Facebook too. https://www.facebook.com/pages/CarrieSilverDesign/190778656757

bittersweet bliss

Do you ever wonder if getting a little of something is worse than getting that something at all? I felt that way this weekend a few times. Hard to explain but maybe you understand. We crammed a lot into our weekend and it was a crazy work week. I try to catch the moments and savor them, whether they are good or bad, they are real. I call this bittersweet bliss. Love to all.

Friday morning heading to work, the field freshly cut.

My beautiful back country drive to work.

the James River

Look how far you can see.

Lots of RR crossing in this area

this is the prettiest.

Came home to baled hay!

Lots of hard work and laughter going on out there.

Superdude's cacti are blooming!

redecorating with a garage sale find.

Supergirl has discovered lawn bowling

She helped make her birthday cake
We played the game of Life, so many rules! I thought it was so ironic, to play a game with different choices and play money, play families...a game of LIFE. I also thought it extra ironic that Supergirl lost interest in the game about 45 minutes in.

I discovered this in Superdude's gnome garden :)
I am going to start making jewelry again, it has been a while. Wish me luck!

lawn bowling and free range sunsets

Weekends without plans, how many of those do you get these days?

Saturday was Garage sales, chinese food, pool setup, moon gazing, phone call from Superdude, who's super busy but doing fine.

Sunday was family, lawn bowling newphews, shopping, mexican food, pool setup cont.'d, and watching my mom's free range menagerie in the sunset.

Lawn bowling: garage sale bowling balls, any target (pins) you wish, rules optional.

We had a thunder-no-storm blow through and cool the air for the evening. There are chickens, cats, bunnies and dogs running around loose each evening with only a few wary glances shared.
Across the field I see our neighbors have a new addition!

And a lovely sunset closes the day. Hope you have a good week!
