rain fishing on the river

Some really good rain finally came to the ozarks this weekend and as I write this the last band of yellow and green on the radar appears to be overhead. The sky is colorful and it is still raining over us, I had to take that picture!

We ignored the rain today and went to the river to check out a new to us access/pull out on the James River for a canoe trip hopefully soon. It looked good so I think it is a go. The water level is really low but this part of the river ends in a lake so this is the best area for floating right now.

I am not an avid fisherman, I like to go and playfish sometimes but mostly I would rather look at rocks, people, animals, and a book. No worm and fish guts for me thanks. I will fry it later though. Mostly today I watched SuperDude fish and read a book and took photos of things I liked.

The rain was very light mostly and would come and go in waves. Later it got bright and sunny and so pretty there on the river.

Sometimes I think I would like to live next to water but I think in truth, I prefer our safer pond to the potential flooding of the river. Please send love to everyone facing hurricane Isaac this week, we need more rain but no one needs flooding.

pretty things on Etsy

So strangely, I have nothing to say about me and mine today. It is a beautiful, beautiful day here in the Ozarks, mid eighties with wind, sun and big fluffly clouds. I will go take a picture in a minute....

Sometimes I think I would like to work with big metal and have a huge crush on kinetic art. So instead of blathering on about my ideas today, take a look for yourself at some amazing kinetic art on etsy.

From wind chimes to mobiles to spinners....I made a favorites selection: movement and sound!

Oh, and I ran out and took picture, looks like these clouds are gathering together.
We might get some rain later (yay!).

finding Metaphors

This weekend was relaxing, yesssss! Lots of walking and shutting the mind off. If you are lucky enough to have a beautiful place to go walking, DO IT! We took it up a notch and went to a nearby botanical garden with a Japanese garden, oh my it was gorgeous. I took lots of photos and as I look at them now, it strikes me how many excellent life metaphors you can find in a garden, especially one as pretty as this. So forgive me if you find my musings silly but really, can you disagree?

Taking time to enjoy others labor of beauty inspires.

Water reflections... look into yourself.

Peaceful Zen, finding balance soothes.

See the sky when looking down.

Be curious.

Crooked paths are more interesting.

Have a goal in the distance.

Sometimes your goals change.

Sometimes goals become lost and hard to find.
Love is watching them go their own way.

And Love is watching them return.

Sometimes that goal you sought is less.

But the view from that success brings a new goal.
And sometimes a full circle brings a whole new perspective.
Okay, that's all. I had too much fun with that. I am inspired to share my pendant here. Have a metaphorically great week.

sky watching and pink cuteness

We were graced with 1.5 inches of rain last night and many thunderstorms. I kept watching the clouds and waiting for the rain to build. The steamy earthy scent in the air this morning was indescribable and so welcome.

We spent the day with family and enjoying a beautiful little girl's first birthday celebration. I watched the generations of mothers mostly, as always in awe of the procession of life. Thank God for little girls and pink birthdays.
